The colourful coastal town on the southern part of the South African World Heritage Site, Isimangaliso Wetland Park is a well-positioned place to be based in this area. The quaint town is a kaleidoscope of colour and has an abundance of interesting and informative signage.

For an ideal beach experience there are beaches at St Lucia or take a short trip north to Cape Vidal for better swimming conditions.
Cruises on St Lucia Estuary are very popular and operate throughout the year. Hippos and crocodiles sightings occur regularly and the estuary teams with bird life. Options available for excellent viewing are large cruisers and smaller barges. Cruises take place throughout the day but the late afternoon trip often provides spectacular sunsets.
There are numerous other activities and things to do including hiking, fishing, bird viewing, horse safaris and beach rides. Another very pleasant option is just relaxing.
